Tour Program Departure:02/01/2019-Return:06/01/2019 Wednesday 02/01/2019: Athens-Constantinople-Caesaria We gather together at Athens Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" for our flight to Caesarea through Istanbul. After our arrival at the airport of Caesarea, we go by road to Prokopi. We settle down at the hotel, have dinner and overnight. Thursday-03/01/2019:Cappadocia We are having breakfast and then we make a visit to the valley of Pergamon-Ihlara. We go down to the Méndez River and go for a walk in the gorge with the early Christian churches. Continuing our journey, we go to Karvali with the stone houses and visit the church that Grigorios the Theologian (the Nazianzinos) spend at the end of his life. We visit Malakopi in the underground city and the temple of Aghii Theodoroi. We return to our hotel in Prokopi for dinner and overnight. Friday-04/01/2019:Cappadocia After breakfast, we leave for the most important settlement of the prehistoric Avanos, built on the banks of the River Aly and visiτ a ceramic workshop. The city is famous for its ceramics. We continue with the Dervent Valley and the eighth miracle of the world: the Chimneys of the Fairies formed by volcanic rocks. We cross the valleys of Zelvi, Pasagabag and Koramas. We visit churches with amazing religious paintings (Skotini, Krifi, Panagia, Sandals, Agia Varvara, Sidoni, Milos, Stefanes). We go to Ustroshar in the "Extreme Tower", where the view across the area is stunning. We return to Prokopi, where we worship in St. Nicholas, Ioannis of Rousse and the famous Sinasso. We arrive at our hotel for dinner and overnight. Saturday-05/01/2019: Cappadocia–Istanbul After having our breakfast, we depart for Caesarea airport and for our flight to Istanbul. In our present program we will first worship Hagia Sophia, with its tall dome, the huge narthex and the impressive gold mosaics. Hagia Sophia was built under the command of Emperor Justinian in the 6th century AD. Today it is included in the most beautiful buildings in the world. We also visit the Blue Mosque, the Byzantine Hippodrome and Topkapi Palace. We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. Sunday-06/01/2019: Istanbul "Epiphany in the Bosporus" We leave early in the morning to celebrate Epiphany in the Patriarchate. From the dawn of Fanari, we will watch the Holy Cross Diving ceremony at the Golden Horn. Then we will visit the Monastery of Vlahernon and Panagia Balukliotissa, where are also the tombs of the Patriarchs, the monastery of Chora, Pamamkaristo, the monastery of Stoudiou and Eptapyrgio (Gentikoule). There will be free time to enjoy your ride on Peran Street. Finally we leave for the airport to take the flight back to Athens. Monday 07/01/2019: Istanbul–Athens We depart from Constantinople at 01.15 am and we arrive in Athens at 02.20 am Tour Price Price per person in a double room: 750 € Included: Air tickets (including airport taxes).
