Our stay is taking place in Borovets (Bulgaria),at the ski resort situated in Bulgaria’s highest location. Our 4-star hotel is surrounded by fir trees
Borovets is exactly at the center of what we want to visit day by day. On the first day,we will get to know the capital Sofia, Filipupoli the next day and on the third day the RILAS Monastery and SANTASKI. These are the main sightseeing, because we will see and talk about many more. Also there is nothing optional and we confirm you, there will be rich buffets in the mornings and evenings.
1st Day:Athens – Borovets
We leave our base early in the morning. The first stop is at Olympus Plaza, the second before Stylida and the third for lunch, (or snack) in Platamonas. We continue our journey and in two hours and a quarter we are in Promachonas. We also make a stop at the tax-free shop and pass immediately after checking passports.
After two hours and a quarter we are in Borovets, the most famous ski resort in Bulgaria, and then at our four-star hotel. Follow dinner and overnight.
2nd Day:Monastery Of Rila And The City Of Sofia
After breakfast we depart for the main spiritual centre of Bulgaria, the RILLAS monastery. It is located on the top of Malovića and is awe-inspiring with its architecture. We make a visit to its internal places, worship the holy relics and learn its history.
We continue our journey to the capital Sofia where we admire the Alexander Nevsky Church, Saint Sophia, the Natural History Museum, the Park with the amazing theatre, the Presidential Palace where we can photograph with its guards and the Rotunda of Saint George.
In addition, we have free time in the city centre to have lunch, do some shopping, and also to wander around the city. Late in the afternoon we get the way back to our hotel, where we have dinner and overnight.
3rdDay:Borovets – Philippopolis(Plovdiv)
We leave after breakfast and in two hours we arrive in Plovdiv, the capital of Eastern Rumelia, where the first thing we can see is the river Evros (or Maritsa in Bulgarian).
We walk along the large pedestrian street, where besides the old Greek mansions we can see the statue of Philippos, the temple of Tzoumagia, the Roman Stadium, the mansion of Argyris Kougioumtzoglou and Georgiades’ house, the first pharmacy of Philipopolis(Plovdiv) in 19th century, which was run by a Greek Pharmacist of the time. We also have free time to take a stroll, eat or enjoy a cup of coffee.
In the afternoon we return to our hotel.If some of our friends have already visited Plovdiv, they can stay in the hotel to enjoy Borovets and the ski resort, as well as the facilities of the hotel. Dinner and overnight follow.
4th Day:Borovets – Sandanski – Athens
We leave early in the morning and we say goodbye to the unique Borovets. Our immediate destination is the town of Sandanski, the Homeland of Spartacus, as the locals say and as their history mentions too.
Nowadays, Sandaski is famous for its warm, hot springs, climate and good market. Free time is available for a walk in the pedestrian zone and for possible purchases.
After our visit to Sandanski, we finish our trip to Bulgaria. So we continue our journey to the Bulgarian-Greek borders. Our next stop is in Platamonas to eat and from there we will be heading back to Athens.
